The proposed site for the Etna Riverfront Park and Trail’s location has a unique and strategic location 24 feet above the Allegheny River and at the foot of the 62nd Street Bridge.  It is a unique piece of urban property that has the potential to become a community treasure and a key link in a regional trail system along the Allegheny River. The Etna Riverfront Park and Trail is a vital piece of infrastructure that will benefit both the community of Etna and the regional river trail corridor as a whole. 

The Park will offer idea vistas up and downstream, passive greenspace, and act as a critical link in further connecting the regional trail systems.

Grandstand & Scenic Overlook

Grandstand is the termination of the first ramp of the switchback structure on the site. At the top of the structure, the view down the Allegheny Riveroffers glimpses of the city of Pittsburgh and the classic wooded hillsides of the region. From this top platform, pre-cast concrete and metal grating stairswith incorporated seating are proposed to offerseating and a potential venue for music and otherperformances.

Blue Water Wall & Rainwater Infiltration

Etna Riverfront Park and Trail has the opportunity to capturerainwater and treat it on site. This feature further fortifies the rain waterinfrastructure projects being conducted in the Borough of Etna currently.The Water Wall will capture stormwater at the base. Potable water suppliedby the Hampton-Shaler Water Authority will be circulated down thedifferent panels. These panels not only create visual interest and ambientsound, but they can also be lit up at night for extended visual interest.
